Gosset NV Excellence Brut (Champagne)

Tense and crisp, this is a balanced food-friendly Champagne. It is dry, and apple- and citrus-like acidity has rounded out with some bottle age.

The acidity cuts right through to give the wine a great lift of freshness on the finish. Palm Baby International - R.V.

KODAK i2400 Scanner and PCTI Software Enhance Access to Patient Medical Information at the Point of Care for Riverside Surgery

1,500 KODAK Scanners sold into England’s National Health Service as part of long-term relationship with PCTI Solutions Ltd.

ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 26—A KODAK i2400 Scanner is enabling the medical staff at Riverside Surgery in Worcestershire, England to gain faster, more accurate access to medical records and information as they make decisions for their 13,500 patients. The i2400 Scanner also makes the capture, delivery, and management of patient information more cost-effective. The solution connects an i2400 Scanner with PCTI DOCMAN Electronic Document Management and Workflow Solution, which provides users with rapid, direct access to data from PCTI iSOFT SYNERGY Clinical Software.

“Our existing scanner was slow and needed replacing,” said Becky Sparrow, IT Manager, Riverside Surgery. “When we saw the KODAK i2400 Scanner at Docman’s user group, we were impressed by its speed, feature set and potential to save us time and money, with Kodak’s three-year warranty guaranteeing service over time.”
Able to process up to 2,000 pages per day at 30 pages per minute, the compact i2400 Scanner includes Kodak’s Perfect Page Imaging Technology, which results in less time required for document preparation, fewer rescans, and virtually no interruptions during operation. The scanner features next generation dual indirect LED illumination to eliminate traditional lamp warm up time.

“In addition to speed, the KODAK i2400 Scanner automatically rotates pages so everything is the right way up, as well as automatically scanning colour pages,” said Sparrow. “Previously we had to photo copy colour documents to improve quality, and then scan them, which was hugely time wasting.”
Digitised images from patient documents are scanned by PCTI INTELLISENSE OCR Software for DOCMAN Software, which captures key fields including name, address, date of birth and national health system number. This data is accurately and quickly filed into patients’ clinical records contained in the SYNERGY System. Clinicians can then quickly review information in consultation with their patients.

“Processing documents using INTELLISENSE Software takes seconds with our iWorkflow module, which allows us to route information to the appropriate staff member for review within one or two mouse clicks,” said Jonathan Wilson, Marketing Manager, PCTI.
The combined power and productivity of the i2400 Scanners and DOCMAN Solution provide a marked improvement in productivity for Riverside Surgery’s five-person administration team, which supports a large team that includes general practitioners, nurses, healthcare assistants, and a social worker.

“With a relationship with PCTI dating back almost 10 years, the two companies have worked together on multiple National Health Service (NHS) projects where 1,500 scanners have now been sold,” said Neil Murphy, Kodak’s UK Sales Manager. “High performance, reliability, level of warranty and ongoing service and support are essential for health service, and this is where Kodak excels.”

KODAK NEXPRESS Red Fluorescing Dry Ink Earns Industry Recognition with a 2012 PIA InterTech Technology Award

Kodak’s Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions lauded with InterTech Award three times

ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 30—Printing Industries of America (PIA) recently presented Kodak with a 2012 InterTech Technology Award honoring Kodak’s NEXPRESS Red Fluorescing Dry Ink’s innovative capabilities. The KODAK NEXPRESS Red Fluorescing Dry Ink Solution helps printers provide increased security and fraud protection on documents, packaging, promotional, and direct mail materials and is part of the KODAK NEXPRESS Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions portfolio.
This year’s InterTech Technology Award marks the third time Kodak has received Printing Industries of America recognition for its Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions. In 2005, Kodak was recognized for the initial launch of the Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions, and in 2009, for its addition of the new Dimensional Printing Solution.
“Security solutions can often be cost prohibitive, but with Kodak’s Red Fluorescing Dry Ink, printers have a real solution against counterfeiting that is both cost effective and easy to implement,” said Mark Bohen, Vice President of Technology and Research at Printing Industries of America. “This new technology can be used on a wide range of applications and opens the door for printers to pursue new market opportunities.”

The KODAK NEXPRESS Platform offers exceptional print quality and productivity to meet the needs of commercial printers, direct mail houses, photo service providers, and in-plant and transactional printers. Print providers can go a step further to differentiate their applications with the Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions, which create a variety of enhancements, including spot colors, Kodak’s unique in-line dimensional printing, high-quality gloss, in-line watermarking, or coating in a single pass.
The Red Fluorescing Dry Ink Solution can be used to print inline on a wide range of substrates and appears clear until it is illuminated with an ultraviolet light source. The intensity of the red ink can be controlled by the amount of ink applied during the printing process, but it appears virtually invisible to the naked eye. Similar to other NEXPRESS Dry Inks, Red Fluorescing Ink does not contain VOCs.

As a security solution, Kodak Red Fluorescing Dry Ink is considered ideal for printing admission tickets, 2D and QR barcodes, and limited-production print jobs where fraud and counterfeiting issues are a top priority. At Alcom, an integrated marketing communications company, Kodak’s Red Fluorescing Ink was used to combat counterfeit ticketing for major-league games. Alcom relied on the Red Fluorescing Ink to apply an invisible team logo on each printed ticket. Tickets were later checked at the admission gate using UV lighting, and any without the logo were immediately deemed unauthentic. The new feature helped Alcom eliminate its client’s counterfeiting concerns while providing a high-quality printed product.

“Red Fluorescing Ink is a great example of how Kodak provides its customers with differentiating solutions to help meet their needs,” said Steve Fletcher, Kodak’s Vice President and General Manager of Electrophotographic Printing Solutions. “The combination of Red Fluorescing Ink and variable-data printing provides printers with fraud protection and security printing opportunities, and new capabilities often lead to greater customer satisfaction and additional business growth.”
Kodak continues to develop innovative solutions to maximize its customers’ investment in the NEXPRESS Platform. During drupa 2012, Kodak debuted several new Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions, including gold, pearlescent, and neon print solutions for expanded application possibilities. With these latest enhancements, printers will be able to add eye-catching colors and effects to their printed applications. Kodak plans to demonstrate these new solutions live at the Kodak booth during Graph Expo 2012.
